What Makes This Session Effective

This session is all about timing. We’re stripping the snatch down to its smallest parts to fix leaks in your technique. Don’t rush the pause squats. They’re here to build raw stability and force production from the bottom of the hole. Stay tight.

Movement Glossary

Muscle snatch + hang power snatch + low hang snatch — A complex designed to refine the barbell path. You’ll move from a strict press to a hip-driven power snatch and finally a snatch from just above the knee. Keep the bar close.

Snatch push press + overhead squat — A strength-stability pairing for the upper body. Use a dip and drive to push the bar overhead, then stabilize it through a full squat. Lock your armpits.

Front Pause Squat — A front squat where you hold the bottom position for two seconds. This removes the stretch-reflex and forces you to produce power from a dead stop. Drive through the mid-foot.

FAQs

Q: Why the two-second pause on the front squats?

A: Pauses kill momentum. By stopping at the bottom, you force your core and legs to stabilize the weight without relying on a “bounce,” which builds massive strength in the most difficult part of the lift.

Q: How should I handle the percentage on the snatch complex?

A: These are meant to be crisp and fast. If the bar is crashing on you or your form breaks down, drop the weight; the goal is technical perfection, not a grind.

Q: What is the difference between a hang snatch and a low hang snatch?

A: A standard hang snatch starts above the knee, while the low hang starts with the bar just above the kneecap. This forces a deeper hip hinge and requires more leg drive to get the bar overhead.
